We started Sail East Charters to share our passion for sailing with anyone who wants to experience the joy of moving gracefully across the water with the wind.

Whether you’d like to actively participate in the sailing, or just want to kick back with a drink in your hand and take in the sights, we will deliver the experience you’re looking for.

The Sailboat

Truant is a meticulously-maintained, deep-keeled, sloop-rigged 42’ yacht that comfortably accommodates four to six adult passengers plus crew in style. She’s well-equipped for performance, dependability and safety.

Under sail, Truant is one of the most capable sailboats on the water. Whether you’re looking for a romantic cruise or some lively tacking across beautiful Gardiners Bay with friends and family, Truant delivers in style.

Our Story

I first discovered sailing in college, where I learned the ropes on small dinghies and catamarans. From there, I was hooked.

Back in 2009 I bought an Alerion 28’ daysailer and began sailing every chance I could. After several years, I decided to turn my passion into something more. I completed some blue water passages, got my USCG captain certification and moved up to the boat of my dreams, Truant.

In 2016 I met Ewa, my wife and partner, on a sailing charter in the BVI’s. After numerous sailing adventures together, we both quickly realized we were happiest out on the water heading off towards the horizon. So we decided to do something about it, Sail East.
